Bilingual current affairs show from a unique Māori world view for all New Zealanders. Welcome to Marae, the only Māori language live-to-air current affairs/ magazine programme on television. Marae has developed over the years to become an award-winning programme focusing on the Māori approach to life in modern New Zealand. Since 1992, Marae has examined social and political developments affecting Māori. The Marae team of reporters, researchers, directors and studio staff have three goals. To excite viewers about the vibrant culture within the Māori community. To educate and inform viewers about issues impacting on and important to Māori. And finally, to motivate viewers to take an active role in understanding the diverse opinion of Māori towards New Zealand and its place in the world. In an age of dynamic social and technological change Marae seeks to remind Māori of the richness of their culture.
