In 1994, Television New Zealand screened a series of six one-hour programmes entitled Tagata Tangata, devoted to contemporary views of Pacific history and social issues. The film crew had travelled widely during the previous year, visiting Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Tahiti, Niue, Hawaii and Easter Island, as well several locations within Aotearoa itself.
