Bechu Prasad, an old Indian man, has lived in Fiji all his life in a large extended family of which he is now head. In this film, we watch him at work on his self-owned sugar cane farm and in his position as a well-respected community leader who gets on well with both Indian and indigenous Fijians.
This series is composed of six documentaries covering six Pacific nations and territories, giving a wide-ranging view of contemporary Pacific society. It shows the variety of ways of life from subsistence to urbanization and the challenges from outside to what has been called 'the Pacific way'.
