1Trades people like roofers and glass installers in Christchurch, who are owed money by the EQC, have been told to stop working on those jobs until they have been paid. In some cases they are owed hundred of thousands of dollars. There is discussion on the difficulties of getting paid and the rules around invoicing.
2Does the law need an overhaul? The rules around death certification are a mish-mash and need and overhaul. The Law Commission is reviewing the Burial and Cremation Act and is calling for public submissions. The old rules do not fit with the new Coroner's Act which is causing frustration to using the Acts, like the police, hospitals and rest home owners.
