4Keynote Address: Dame Meg Taylor DBE, Secretary General, Pacific Islands Forum Keynote address delivered by Dame Meg Taylor DBE, Secretary General, Pacific Islands Forum. Introduced by James Batley, Distinguished Policy Fellow, ANU Department of Pacific Affairs. Dame Meg Taylor is a Papua New Guinean lawyer and diplomat. She studied at the University of PNG, received her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne and her Master of Laws from Harvard University. She practiced law with the PNG Office of the Public Solicitor and in the private sector, and served as a member of the PNG Constitutional and Law Reform Commission. She was Ambassador of Papua New Guinea (PNG) to the United States, Mexico and Canada in Washington, DC and later worked at the World Bank Group for 15 years. In August 2014, she was appointed Secretary General to the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), and was reappointed for a second three-year term in 2017. Dame Meg is also Pacific Ocean Commissioner.
