1Opening Session The conference is notable for the role of young people, and the amount of time given to external affairs and their impact on NZ. Keith Holyoake's speech focused on external affairs, and the forces of nationalism and communism, and NZ's defence policy. There were remits for a greater part of the national income to be devoted to foreign aid. Some other remits were on: borrowing; tax incentives for the young; easing import restrictions; trade agreement with Australia; the abolition of land tax; and possum control. The use of fertilisers was discussed by the Minister of Agriculture.
2Remits on Radio and Television There were two remits on Radio and Television. One sought to put the licencing of all broadcasting in the hands of an independent board. Adopted. The other urged private participation in commercial radio which was adopted by a narrow margin after spirited discussion.
3Remit on Drinking Hours Another remit called for the government to amend drinking hours without a referendum. And others on farming and international trade.
4Studio Discussion Studio discussion on the conference and interviews with the Prime Minister and the President of the National Party.
