Dr. Ruth Butterworth from Department of Political Studies at University of Auckland, analyses the 1974 British election and political polling. In 1970 two things stood out: the turnout was down from 1950 onward and also the share of the poll for each major party has dropped. This time the poll was up showing there were a sizeable number of people voting who did not vote last time, maybe new voters.
