Ship Cove to Pelorus River. Stunning landscapes thread through a labyrinth of bays as Pio hikes from historic Ship Cove to the Pelorus River. A brave detour takes Pio to Maud Island to meet some giant kiwi bugs, and on to a spectacular slice of the trail to meet some creative folk carving out new Te Araroa territories.

Te Araroa: Tales from the Trails is a fresh look at Aotearoa by foot, allowing Pio Terei to connect with the people and local histories in a very real way. All the while, the unspoilt landscapes hark back to a time when Māori and Pākehā explorers first encountered this land.
