3This week, the Government announced a $124 million loan in a Swiss Bank public bond issue for ten years and have refinanced New Zealand's $10 billion debt package in London. New Zealand usually raises large amounts of money by the syndicated loan system, but in a new strategy, the Government plans to borrow short term money at a lower rate, while simultaneously lining up long term money as a backstop if needed.
