  • 1A huge manhunt continues in the United Kingdom for the Irish Republican Army (IRA) assassination squad responsible for the bombing of The Grand Hotel in Brighton, while Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and most of the British Cabinet were staying there. Police also believe there could be another attack in the very near future. This was the IRA's second attempt to assassinate Margaret Thatcher. The first attempt was to be executed last year at the Conservative Party Conference in Blackpool, but was abandoned at the last minute because of a planning problem.
