1The proposed 1985 All Black rugby tour to South Africa is as contentious a matter now as the Springboks' New Zealand tour was in 1981, even within the rugby fraternity itself. The New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRFU) have delayed their response to this year's tour invitation, aware of the high public feelings surrounding it. They want to see an itinerary before making any decision. However, the head of the South African Rugby Board has said no itinerary will be issued until the invitation to tour is accepted. The divergent opinions regarding the tour are reflected in two former All Blacks who took part in the 1976 tour to South Africa.
