A previously unknown Palestinian group, the Arab Revolutionary Cell, has claimed responsibility for the blast, saying it is in response to American military action against Libya. However Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has been quick to distance himself from the attack, saying he opposes the bombing of civilian targets.
