  • 1Coalition for Concerned Citizens The Coalition for Concerned Citizens is a group of Christian fundamentalists committed to changing what they regard as libertarian attitudes amongst too many of New Zealand's politicians. Dubbed the Moral Majority, they oppose abortion, homosexual law reform and the undesirable effects of the welfare state. They advocate the sanctity of marriage and traditional family values, a strong military defence policy and religious instruction in schools. Their strategy is to target politicians whom they see as lacking in moral fibre and then using the democratic process at grass roots party level to embark on a campaign to defeat those MPs at the next election, with candidates they have endorsed. Discussion and viewer feedback with a spokesman for the Coalition for Concerned Citizens, Barry Reid.

  • 2Federation of Labour (FOL) President Jim Knox has launched a strong attack on the Government's economic policies, saying they have allowed the market to run rampant, enabling big companies to make even more money. He urged the Government to hed the needs of the people, rather than the dictates of the market, and said the Government is in an "ideological straight jacket that is tearing the country apart". However, he says he does not want to see National return to power.
