  • 2Manic Lives Mental illness is still something most New Zealanders react to fear with fear and ignorance. However. one in six new Zealanders will suffer from a depressive illness at some time in their lives. One of the most crippling of these illnesses is Manic Depression (Bipolar Disorder). Twenty years ago there was no known treatment for this condition. Sufferers were either locked up or simply left to cope on their own. Today the condition can be controlled but not cured and for manic depressives, the struggle continues.

  • 3Kerbing It Despite please for safer driving, increased blitzes and widespread calls for action, New Zealand's road toll continues to mount. Some groups have blamed the increase on the open road speed limit, but many serious accidents are happening in urban areas. Ministry of Transport (MOT) officials are certain that the number of people being killed or injured on New Zealand's roads is a result of the way people drive and driver attitude.
