The Race Relations conciliator recently referred to "White Flight", a phenomenon in which parents of Pakeha children remove their children from local schools in favour of schools further afield with predominantly White rolls. This has brought the issue of multiculturalism within the school system into focus. What emphasis should is be given? Increasingly, schools are including Taha Maori in their syllabus and some say that unless the concept of Taha Maori is accepted wholeheartedly, New Zealand faces serious problems ahead.
