  • 1Apartheid in South Africa More than half of the Commonwealth nations have chosen to boycott the Edinburgh Commonwealth Games in protest at Britain's refusal to impose economic sanctions on South Africa. While there is confusion over solutions to the problems in South Africa, things are changing in the Republic. Influencing the scope and pace of change is the African National Congress (ANC), a banned political party, now regarded by many as the Government-in-waiting. The ANC wants universal enfranchisement in South Africa, but the means they have employed in trying to achieve that end have often been bloody and violent. They also have Communist sympathisers within their ranks. Despite a current state of emergency imposing stringent restrictions on information coming out of South Africa, a member of the ANC is in studio. Discussion and viewer talkback with Prince Cassock, an ANC youth leader, who works in Zambia with Radio Freedom.
