A daily, midday, news package which featured an in depth interview about a current news topic. Viewers could phone in and ask questions of the key interviewee.

  • 1Drink Driving The approach of the festive season coincides with a spike in deaths and injuries on the roads due to drunk driving. However, the penalties for drink-driving are light, and the chances of getting caught are miniscule. Pubs provide patrons with huge free car parks. Traffic officers are often left to pick up the pieces following an accident, but do not have the powers to stop drunk drivers in their tracks. Some believe the only way to stop drink driving is to put the fear of God into all motorists, and give traffic officers and police the power to get offenders off the roads and keep them off, until the courts can deal with them. However, some claim that individual rights should trump public safety. Discussion and viewer feedback with National's Transport spokesman, Winston Peters.
