Television New Zealand's hour-long weekly current affairs programme presenting mini-documentaries on topical local issues.

  • 1Bored to Death Everyone seems to agree that the geysers and mud pools in Rotorua's Whakarewarewa thermal field are threatened with extinction, but there is disagreement on what action should be taken. Last year, the Government set December 1st 1985 as the closure date for many of the bores, but to date, not one bore has actually been shut down. Now an inter-departmental investigation is underway looking at why virtually every bore user was granted an exemption and April 1st 1987 has been set as the final date for positive action. However, some fear it may already be too late to save the world-famous Whakarewarewa.

  • 2Flying the Nest A look at the success of Kohanga Reo (Maori language nests), which are teaching thousands of Maori pre-school children fluency in their native tongue. However, now those graduates are entering primary school and the issue of bilingualism has come to the fore. Maori are calling for State resources to be channelled into the State education system, so that those children can continue their education in Maori.
