Television New Zealand's hour-long weekly current affairs programme presenting mini-documentaries on topical local issues.

  • 1Ruatoria The Word . . . Three years ago, the small East Coast community of Ruatoria breathed a sigh of relief when many of their young men turned from gangs to God. A curious mixture of religion, reggae music, Maoritanga and marijuana seemed a small price to pay for ending the violence in the community. However, three years on, following a cruel chapter of arson, kidnapping, murder and beatings no one is counting their blessings any more. This is a special two-part investigation into the strife-torn township. Part One looks at the allegations of kidnapping and beatings which have prompted a top level Police inquiry into the actions of their officers. Part Two takes a close up look at Ruatoria's troubled history.

  • 2Down the Dumps The new State corporations have had a difficult birth, especially the Coal Corporation, which is currently embroiled in a standoff with the Government over the value of State Coal's assets. However, in the lead up to corporatisation the Coal Corporation was faced with the difficult task of reducing its workforce by half, without making the miners too unhappy. This is the story of the final fraught countdown to redundancy through the eyes of the miners of Runanga and their new boss.
