  • 1Where There's Smoke It is now three years since the Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) fire in Mount Wellington in December 1984. Some of the fire fighters who fought the blaze say they re still suffering from physical and psychological disorders as a direct result of that fire. However, their fight for compensation is being stalled by the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) which does not believe there is a link.

  • 3Smoke Wars Because cigarettes are less expensive in Queensland than in New South Wales, an estimated $50 million worth of Queensland cigarettes are smuggled across the State border into New South Wales each year by truck drivers. Now tax collectors are being accompanied by armed police in an effort to prevent the smuggling operation.
