1A million people have been evacuated from low-lying areas in Hurricane Sandy's path up the East coast of the United States. Five and a half million people are now without power. Twelve have been reported dead in the USA, along with 66 reported killed in the Caribbean. The storm is also affecting the Presidential election campaign, with both candidates forced to put their campaigns on hold.
