A tornado has struck the Auckland suburb of Hobsonville people are told to stay in their cars because of the dangers of more tornadoes. Lisa is at the scene. They heard rumbling sound earlier this afternoon in the sky. They saw a wall of wind building and picking up debris that was coming towards them there was a child swing set and also a trampoline. One house has its windows boarded up. The shows you the force. The police officers started telling everyone to get into their houses and off the road. The first tornado was preceded by absolutely torrential rain I don't know if you can hear the thunder of the background, but you could see the heavy skies in pouring rain. We have had one confirmed fatality and two others unconfirmed. A command centre has been set up at the Hobsonville airbase they came out of nowhere and they had no idea what was happening And it was over as quickly as it came. At Hobsonville point they are building new properties here. We saw a truck transporting concrete slabs to the site. Who knows what is going on at the construction site. But there is a lot of material there. Can also seea fire rescue unit it's another rescue units. There is according to centred around The construction site. Is there any risk of a further tornado? I don't know if you can hear that cracking thunder in the background we have another bout of torrential rain. The police are very cautious that are manning the cordon. They are ordering everyone back into their houses every time there is another flood of this weather. They are mindful of the fact that another one could come through. And it came through with such speed. People are worried that they will not have time to react. People are being told to get into their cars or given site. CORRECTION: get inside at the moment police are by the court and turning cars away. Within the cordon I can also see there are two cranes in there i can see an ambulance and fire engine with flashing lights they are very high construction cranes there is a big warehouse being built and prefabricated concrete slabs one of those is attached to the crane and under that I can see people working in high visibility jackets in construction workers centred around that area. We don't know what's happening there but that is all where all the action is happening. All evidence suggesting this thing came through with such force that picked up huge objects and through them around. Clothing bins are lying on their side. A trampoline went through a window of a house. Can you confirm there is one confirmed dead in this incident? We know there is one confirmed death. That is in the area of the Hobsonville school. There are other unconfirmed reports of fatalities. We have been told by officers manning the cordon a control centre has been set up by the Air Force Base. The weather is still bad out here. They will be working bearing mind it could be another one. Lisa, we now have the information that there is too confirmed dead. This is a tornado in Hobsonville awkward.
