There are two people confirmed dead after a wall collapsed at the construction site. There are a number of reports of damage to trees property and power cables. Power has been cut from shops at Westfield West City. There have been tiles flying off rooftops and trees lying on roads. The Northwestern motorway is heavy. Full flights are sitting on the tarmac. Will go live to reporter Lisa Owen Hobsonville. Just a short distance from here as the construction site where we believe some of these deaths have occurred. There are cranes that have prefabricated concrete slabs attached to them. People on the street fell some of the fury of what they are describing as a tornado as a work through the street. They saw outdoor furniture and wheelie bins picked up and thrown. It smashed windows and property. There are some boarded-up windows behind us. The construction site is the focus of the emergency services. A cordon has been formed around the area. We just got eyewitness accounts in. One moment. Our trampoline got picked up and we watched a move across the yard and it turned upside down in the the the yard. I was scared when I heard the trampoline smack into the window. I looked outside the window when I heard the noise. I thought it was normal, but I watched it and it got worse and worse. I could see the wind round and all the power lines up there was going around. There is a risk of thunderstorms in the area, but they do not always mean tornadoes. The risk is diminishing. The purple blobs are moving down. The baggage of the political activity is moving away towards the Bay of Plenty. The risk is abating. we shall see the risk abating as the rest of the system moves away into the Bay of Plenty area. Two people are confirmed dead after a wall collapsed at a construction site. Seven people are confirmed injured. There is another unconfirmed death near the school, but not of the school itself. Power has been shut at the shops at the Westfield West city mall. Traffic on the north-western motorways are heavy and slow. Be aware of flash flooding. Several roads are closed. Full flights are sitting at the tarmac at the airport. Civil defence has been activated.
