There are many people who know how to fish. But there are few who know te reo. That is the reason we decided to put together this wānanga." - Nore Martin Te Rarawa descendants of Te Tao Mauī are people of the sea. But few speak te reo Māori. This Waka Huia episode follows a wānanga in Mitimiti called Te Reo o te Moana. Where Te Tao Maui and Hokianga experts utilise their fishing traditions so that their way of life with tangaroa, language and customs are preversed for generations to come.
