Mai Time had it’s own unique role to help revitalise the Māori language alongside iwi radio and Māori programs like Marae and Te Karere. So where did Māori broadcasting, Māori journalism and iwi radio originate from? This episode will examine all three with esteemed Māori broadcasters who remind us of the importance of the industry and explain why future generations should continue the legacy of those who fought for Te Reo Māori broadcasting.
