Bryan Bruce has spent the last six months investigating the current state of child health in New Zealand. Bruce is a baby boomer. He went to primary school in the late 1950s when the state provided children with free milk, free health care, and a free education. New Zealanders were able to boast that New Zealand was a great place to bring up children. Since then New Zealand has dropped to 28 on a list of 30 OECD countries for child well being, with only Mexico and Turkey behind New Zealand. This Inside New Zealand Special Report investigates why the current state of child health in New Zealand is so bad, and what can be done about it.
