First up, highlights from yesterday's competition. Welcome to highlights of day seven of the 2018 Paralympic Winter games. With a fresh covering of snow, the stamina and accuracy of the by athletes Would be tested in duels for six gold medals. We have the best of the semi-final meeting. Who will face Canada in the gold medal match? The snowboarders were back on course as bank slalom made its games debut. Five Paralympic titles to be won. Competition for the last four in curling was intense. We will have the action from the conclusion of the round robin and the semifinals. There was heavy snow on the final day of biathlon events. The women's 12 km Proved to be a battle between Andreas Nejman. The athletes started quickly and raced against the clock. Andreas Nejman overtook masters at the halfway point. The shooting was crucial. Masters hit all five targets on each of her visits to the range. Eskau was just as accurate. Masters was second across the line. She moved ahead of the first across the line. It was going to be close as Eskau approached the finish. She beat her competitors by a few seconds and won first place. In the men's 15 km sitting biathlon, 17-year-olds Taras Rad was the early leader. He missed two of his early targets. This was the start of the final lap. Daniel Cnossen missed his target. Fleig hit all 20 targets during the race and moved into the lead. Rad slipped to 4th. Canada and the battle for second. All four athletes would be relying on the sprint finish to choose the places. Daniel Cnossen was the 1st to finish. He had to wait for the others. Collin Cameron of Canada was tiring. He was trying to beat Daniel Cnossen's time, but came across the line 16 seconds slower, Clearly exhausted. Taras Rad was next to finish, 4 seconds slower than Cameron, Which meant that he would properly miss out on a medal. That was confirmed when Germany's Fleig earned his place. He finished first. So the gold medal was won by Martin Fleig. The bronze medal was won by number 26, Collin Cameron of Canada. In the women's 12 km standing biathlon, NPA Ekaterina was hoping for a sweep of the gold medals, Already having won the 10 km races. This would be a very close race. Ekaterina Rumyantseva missed her second shot, Having to ski a penalty loop. Anna Milenina missed her shot too. Number 44 was outside the medal positions. Number 45 was in fourth place. Closing in on Iryna Bui of Ukraine. Anna Milenina was the first medal contender to reach the home straight. The Canadians were next to finish, With Young encouraging Hudak to sprint to the finish. Iryna Bui found she was a few seconds slower than Hudak. Ekaterina Rumyantseva only missed out on first place by 3.8 seconds. She was helped to her feet by the winner. The gold medal was won by NPA Ekaterina Rumyantseva. Benjamin Daviet France had won both of the previous men's events in the standing biathlon. He was expected to be one of the contenders in the 15K. Ukraine's 74 was the second leader. Mark Arendz of Canada was the new leader. He hadn't missed a single target And was more than a minute ahead of his nearest challenger from Norway. He also had a perfect record at the shooting range. Mark Arendz was the first medal contender to finish In 42 minutes and 52 seconds. Daviet was next across the line, Almost a minute slower than Mark Arendz. Then Daviet showed great sportsmanship by encouraging Nils-Erik Ulset in the home straight. Daviet was quick to congratulate him on his medal. Oksana had also won a previous gold in the biathlon events at these games. Close behind her on the course was Clara Klug of Germany and her guide. It was Lysova who was setting the pace. Oksana Shyshkova missed her target on the final visit to the shooting range. Clara Klug hope to close in on second place. Oksana Shyshkova was too fast to catch. Mikhalina Lysova was the 1st to finish. Next over the line was Oksana Shyshkova, Almost 3 minutes slower than Mikhalina Lysova. Clara Klug finished the claim third place. The shooting elements proved crucial in the men's 15 K. Three athletes from Ukraine dominated the first half of the race, Number 124, France it every one of his targets, so he was able to take advantage of the Mrs. Anthony Chalencon overtook and skied into third place. Vitaliy Luk'yanenko was the 1st to finish having skewed one penalty loop. Oleksandr Kazik was next. He was put in second place. Anthony Chalencon had to work hard all the way to the line, Beating his competitor to a medal by 7 seconds. The second semi-final of the ice hockey from day six Saw reigning Paralympic champions the USA take on Italy. The United States have been in scintillating form here in PyeongChang. Italy would have to be on top of their game to have any chance of progressing to the final. Now they come forward again. He might just go alone here on the outside. Grove gets his second go at these Paralympic games. A muted response from Guy Gosling, But that will be a relief. The second mouse gets the cheese. Right in front it's a wide-open available goal. He's got him right where he wants him. In as many moments, the United States are beginning to get in their rhythm now. The catalyst of it, Captain fantastic, Josh Pauls. This is his third goal, but he goes to this left hand delivery, and it's just so fine. He is able to find room just under the elbow. It's gone in. It's a goal. The United States have got three goals within a minute. They've gone up on the goalkeeper a number of times. It's gone off the Italians as they try to recover it. The goalkeeper prevents it from being cleared as he is laying out right. He will fire into that area with some venom. The goal was coming, wasn't it? The United States of America finally managed to catch out Italy on the shorthand. They now lead by four goals to 0. They get in that pocket. That was the problem. The Italians ended up turning their back on them. Italy have to make sure they keep doing the basics right, Because this game looks out of reach. You want to make sure that damage limitation is in full force. That's gone in. It hit the inside of the post, And the Americans are just going higher and higher, And right before the intermission They get a fifth. The Americans were only supposed to blow the doors off. They have blown up the Italian car. Again, he's missed. The Italians are all at sea momentarily. Straight into the top corner of the net. A bit of a release for Roybal, who said his target in the far corner. It's a fascinating finish because you are talking about a player who could single-handedly go through A set of five players on the opposition, And he's just showing you how diligent, committed and aggressive years. CORRECTION: he is. Landeros! And he's just smacked it in, And the USA have found the way through the Italian net. This shot here is just like a lightning bolt. There's nothing the goalkeeper can do about that. He's been a lightning rod in the goal for Italy. Final 2 minutes of the second period, which seems to have gone on quite a bit longer than the first. That's credit to the Italians, who have not let the flare of the USA completely override them on this occasion. Not on every occasion. There was too much interest on it from Farmer to be repelled. Farmer hasn't planted too many seeds in this game, but it doesn't mean he's not going to come at harvest. Here is Wallace. This leaves a space for page. That is a wonderful team goal. The work from Page and Grove and that cannot be understated. They give each other a bit of a fist bump as well. Extraordinary to lift up the sled there to make certain that the puck was going to travel underneath it. Things getting frantic on the nearside As Dobson and Landeros look to compete. Remember, Italy are still on the powerplay here. Last few seconds. That's gone wide. It's gone in eventually. The Italians are off the mark. The biggest celebrations of the game on the ice and in the crowd for Italy, Who have got one back with two seconds left of the powerplay. It's sometimes better to be lucky than good. This is a situation of the former, Where they just stay around and give themselves a chance. Just the one goal for the USA in the third period. That could be a combination of the Americans to slowing things down Or Italy just being resilient. It's a word we've used a lot. They have been on the most part, Then you have moments like this when Roybal is at work and Landeros scores, And the USA are flicking up the gears whenever they feel like it. He's being benevolent. The Americans are going for 1/3 straight gold medal, Which is unprecedented in the world of para-ice hockey. # "Whole World" by Gabe Simon VO: 'When you book a flight with Expedia,' 'and add a hotel or activity,' 'you can save.' 'Everything you need to go.' 'EXPEDIA.' Britain were already eliminated. China got going in the second end. The rock was off target and only nudged the Chinese stone. He scored two with his hammer to make it 2-1 to China. In the fourth end, facing a difficult situation, the hammer failed to make any contact, handing another two points to China. There was a further blow to Britain's chances in the sixth. Their final stone again failing to take out any of the four red stones in the house. There was no way back to Great Britain. So Great Britain bow out. So next up for China is a semi-final clash with Canada. Sweden had only managed three wins from 10 matches in these games. Switzerland were victorious five times. It was Sweden that put the first point on the board. A simple take-out. This was try to put some pressure on the Swedes. He had two scoring stones. It was now 2-1 to Switzerland after five ends. By the seven then, it was 2-2. Sweden had an impressive take-out. In the last 10, Sweden were trailing and loaded the house with four stones. Switzerland had the one last chance to reduce the Swedish score and only managed to remove one. A final result they could be proud of here for Sweden. The United States of America took on Slovakia. The USA guided the hammer safely into the scoring area. The back and forth match between the two sides saw USA make it 6-5 going into the final end. In the eight end, there was a nicely executed tap. Slovakia responded brilliantly with a tap of their own. Both sides leave the tournament at the round-robin stage. Finland had struggled in this tournament with wins only over the USA and Sweden. The Germans had made a great start but had lost their last five matches. There was an opportunity to complete a lovely tap and roll to take two points from the first end. Germany found some momentum. After the break, Finland were trailing by three points to 2. They made the most of the final delivery to score points in the 15. Germany now led. Germany went into an 8-4 lead. In the last end, the task was too big for the finish rink. It resulted in a farewell victory for the Germans. The Jeongseon Alpine centre hosted the banked slalom snowboard discipline. Both the men's and women's events took place. As with the snowboard cross, there are three classifications. There are above-the-knee impairments and below knee impairments and upper limb impairments. They have three runs with the best run being taken to decide the middle. Brenna Huckaby took the best time in the first run. She has absolutely smashed it in her second run. She is the lady to beat here. About 1/3 of a second she needs. Her second runtime was a big improvement on that first run. Incremental improvements here from Amy Purdy. It puts into the bronze medal position. Cecile Hernandez is giving herself a fighting chance. Cecile Hernandez, bronze medallist in the cross. Oh no! She almost did it. But Brenna Huckaby wins the gold medal. Cecile Hernandez turned it into a contest. Amy Purdy wins the bronze. We have another gold medal for Brenna Huckaby. In the woman's SB LL2, the Iranian personified the true spirit of the games, refusing to be beaten by the course. Bibian Mentel-Spee when fastest in the first run. Over a second quicker. The 22 year old silver in Big White now leads. Who is going to win the gold? Brittani Coury is the only thing stopping the Netherlands from having a clean sweep of the medals here. She is speeding up. All 5 foot two of her is heading down towards the finish. A dramatic way to get across the line but Brittani Coury is in the lead. Bibian Mentel-Spee, look at the time here. This is a staggering third run. She is still doing it at 45. Nearly 3 seconds, we have a new leader. When your opponents are applauding you, you know you have done well. The Netherlands have a golden girl in Bibian Mentel-Spee. It is silver for the USA. Australian Simon Patmore won gold. Here he is again trying to upset the USA favourite and the Austrians. So far so good here for Simon. Can he keep it going? Can he marry the composure and the smoothness with the speed? It is not going to be a double gold medal performance here. This man is in the gold-medal spot. After a riproaring run second time out. He is quick again down the hill. He is better than his own time there buy at quarter of a second. We could be looking here at the new gold medallist. Oh! Patrick Mayrhofer absolutely smashes it. Magnificent. Another gold-medal run. Mr Minor from the United States. He had the best score in run one. Patrick Mayrhofer usurped him in the second run. Tremendously quick run at the start from Mike Minor. Can he keep it going? Can he back to the top spot of the podium? Patrick Mayrhofer Drops down to silver. Mike Minor, he pulled out all the stops to get down there. To win a brilliant gold medal and snatch it from under the nose of Patrick Mayrhofer. The men's SB-LL1 promised to be a close race. Bruno Bosnjak of Croatia. He is now fourth and will be edging to get back on to the podium. Which he does in style. The Croatian separates the Americans and Chris Voss is out of the podium places again. Mike Schultz to put pressure on to his compatriot Noah Elliott. His only dot Inside the record books as his first run. He was a former Snow cross race before his accident. He goes second. At the moment, Noah Elliott can afford a slipup. He is already sitting on top spot and he is crushing his way through the course. Is this going to be quicker than his second run? It is. Noah Elliott held off allcomers. Mike Schultz has got a medal on this one. Bruno Bosnjak of Croatia was demoted from 2nd to 3rd in the final run. Gurimu Narita was third at the world Championships. He has said set his sights on the top prize. Gurimu Narita is motoring. There is a mouth wide open there because no one can believe it. That is stunning. If one man is capable of stopping the Japanese, it is this man. You don't get a nickname like the sledgehammer likely. He is really trying to cut corners and find time. But it is second. The metal standing seven altogether different complexion. Is there gold in these hills for Evan Strong? He is a Paralympic champion from Sochi And he is just 0.79 behind. Getting round as quick as he can. The Americans will be pulling the imaginary rope at the bottom. He goes from 4th to 2nd. It is a great run. Evan Strong held on for second. # "Whole World" by Gabe Simon flight with Expedia,' VO: 'When you book a flight with Expedia,' 'and add a hotel or activity,' 'you can save.' 'Everything you need to go.' 'EXPEDIA.' Day seven at the curling centre. We have reached the semi-final stage. We saw the Republic of Korea take on Norway. Norway qualified with a dramatic comeback on day six. We join the action. Korea facing three stones all touching the 4 foot. He needs a massive take-out to reduce the damage. So many rocks in this area. How many has he got ? He's got one. Leaves Norway line 2. This is a wide-open shot for Lorensen. He just needs to find the white circle here to put 1/3 point on the board here. If he can make this one, then Norway will be Leading by two. Three points. That would be so significant for Norway. He minded a little bit of help just to slow it up, And he gets it. As a score of three for Norway here in the third end. High-fives for all. Norway lying two at the moment here. Looks like he's going to take take out on the wing. This is such a difficult shot. Maybe there hoping to only limit Norway to 2. The angle is fantastic. What a roll. Is it undercover? I think that might even be in short position. Waterstone. CORRECTION: What a stone. Norway can see that rock. Lorentsen just needs to tap that Korean stone back to school two. Sneaks by the top one. What a shot here. The veteran is absolutely brought his A game. Korea lying one in there at the moment. Lots of debris out front. Lorentsen trying to make a drop. He needs this to be anywhere in the full 8 foot. Is he passed the guard? He has safely past the guards. Needs to slow down now. It goes right on through. Korea are going to have a chance to tie this up. They simply need to touch paint. To force an extra end. 80% for his five drawers, Seo Soonseok. Looking pretty good. They are encouraging it down the ice. The whole team cheering his rock on. And he has made it. It just gets into the front of the house. Korea get the two points that they need. They are going to need one more end to sort this one out. This extra endIt's still too close to call. Rune Lorentsen is going for a tap here. He needs to move his own stone up a little bit. This is curling so hard. It almost wrecks on the centre guards. He misses the tap ends up sitting count one and two. Comes out OK. They are going to need to have a little confab about this one. They need to steal here in this extra end. The good news for Korea is that that sent a guard up front, All they need to do is tackle rock right around, try and hide it as best they can. He doesn't have a ton of real estate to work with, But the way he's been playing, He could force Norway into a really difficult position. There's a lot of line on this shot. Korea need to be lined shot position after this. It's going to sail right on through. Korea haven't managed to win this one. The host nation are going to go into the bronze game. The gold medal dream is over. World champions, Norway, still hanging in there after losing their first three games this week. They are going into the gold medal game. What a performance. So turf. CORRECTION: tough. That's the final score. Incredible semi-final. Day seven of the ice hockey. In action were Japan and Sweden. Both nations had yet to record a victory at these games. They would determine who would finish seven and eighth in the classification of the final. I think he's got some room here. Sweden score. Off and running the Europeans! You talk about a game that matters. This is as important as it gets right now for both of these sides. They got it back.. But who is supporting? He still going. Takahashi has done it again That standing by your man right there. Whoa! 'I arrived on time, and I was there for lift off.' Meng is in a good position to shoot. It's too easy for Sweden. Japan all of a sudden were all at sea. Sweden just walk across and take an easy goal. Oh, and it just gets beyond them. Sweden score. This is a short added goal. Per Kasperi with a nose like a bloodhound for the net. He has just sniffed out that puck. Sweden, Fukushima is beaten again. Sweden just pick up all of the loose change right now. Right in the back. 12, buckle my Shoe. That is as tidy as a double knot. And it's an overpowering performance from Sweden. Final score, Sweden five, Japan one. The second wheelchair curling semi-final saw the reigning Paralympic champions, Canada, take on China For a place in the final. China were looking to guarantee the first Paralympic medal. We join the action in the fifth and Of China leading Canada three one. Looking wide at the moment. He's missed completely. Out of nothing, Canada with a chance to tie things up. Now, can Mark Ideson capitalise on this very open opportunity? It just roles in the front door. Two big misses by China. A big exhale for sending on its way. This is starting to curl, and it's got less weight. Is she going to jam this rock? Does she have it? Denied. Just hits the wheelchair. That stone definitely had the pace to go all the way out of play. There is really no way about it. Unfortunately, Ideson did not move quickly enough. Maybe the Chinese players truly do think That it is going to stay and play, but I can't imagine that they thought it was going to stop there. That's exactly what the chair stopped the stone. That can't be where it would have stopped. That's the little white book theRe. Doublechecking the rulebook. I think one of the giveaways here is that circle on the ice. It hit the chair with so much speed. So much force that it actually rocked under the ice and left a mark. He obviously thinks that's where it was. I don't think there's any bad sportsmanship here; I think it's just that he's misjudged the situation a little bit. Unfortunately for Ideson, it is the non-offending team's right. They are going to try and do it as best they can. It's tough to plan for, But Canada gets a chance to try and get out of this situation, And they do so. Is he going to try and score one here? He is certainly concentrating very hard on it. It's unbelievable. I'm flabbergasted. It looks like he's drawing for one here. Canada will be thinking that this is ideal. We might rename that one the Chinese Blank. What an end of play. That was eventful. No stones in play, but I can't believe it, Seven ends played here and still all tied. This is Canada's final stone of this semi-final. There's definitely going to be a score here in the eighth end. Will it be for China or Canada? This rock needs to sit just outside the rings. It's got to kill. It looks heavy. It's got quite a bit of momentum. What a result that is. A very stressful moment here. Not a lot of handle on this one. (SHOUTING) he raises it up and gets it. What a shot. China put out their reigning Paralympic gold medallists For the first time. We are going to have a nation that isn't Canada winning the wheelchair curling event at the Paralympic Winter games. Unbelievable shot To put them into the gold medal match. Final score in the semi-final... What a game. (UPLIFTING MUSIC) (MUSIC CONTINUES) (MUSIC CONTINUES)
