In 1968, the state-funded Afghan Film production and archive institute opened and Afghan cinema was born. Since then, many aspects of Afghan culture have been systematically destroyed or forgotten. But the Afghan Film’s archive has been largely preserved through all of these years. A small group of people risked their lives to save the national archive.
