Police! Hands where I can see them! Down on the ground! The pain I'll bring down on you ` a holy vengeance like nothing you've ever seen. (Echoing) Let him go. At the bust, I got a Calling that told me to 'let him go'. And I didn't. I've never defied a Calling before. I think you made the right choice. Zeke, what is this? Frostbite. I may be freezing to death. Saanvi thinks she can help. I'm sorry, Dr. Bahl, but I'm afraid we have to ask you to leave. Who authorised this?! Will you marry me, Michaela? Yes. Yes, I will. - What's this one? - It was the first one I ever drew, and I actually never figured out what it meant. (Indistinct whispering) ## Michaela: Am I supposed to be scared of you? 'Cause staring daggers at me doesn't change the fact that we found over $1 million worth of meth in your place, Jace. I'm just thinking about the best way. - The best way to what? - To hurt you the most. You see, I don't forgive. And I don't forget. I get not turning on your little brother. But, I mean, Kory? I mean, why'd he even keep you around? You're a... liability slab of meat with a temper. At least that's what he said. - I'm sorry. What did you just say? - You're telling me you're not the mastermind behind all this? You have a vivid imagination, detective. I'm just a bus driver. - Oh, you wanna play dumb? - Oh. Well, fine by me. I mean, you're gonna go to prison for so long you're gonna forget what a bus actually looks like, much less drive one. Or... you can tell me what you know about your partners, and we can cut a deal. (Shakily) But I don't know anything! Drea: I know you're scared. And I know you've had a clean sheet up until now. - So, what? - So, I want to help you. But you need to help me first. ## I can't. Three for three. Looks like no one's caving tonight. Nope. - You alright? - No, of course not. I mean, you've seen the way that these cases play out. Separate trials, different defence attorneys all claiming that their client doesn't know anything while pointing at an empty chair creates reasonable doubt. They all walk. That all that's bugging you? The way that Jace looks at me, the way that he talks to me, it's like he can see right through me. It's like he knows that... You think... it's connected to the Calling? - 'Let him go'? - I don't know. (Scoffs) Well, let's let 'em sweat it out overnight. We'll take another stab at them in the morning before they get on the bus to Rikers. Um, yeah, small problem. I'm` I'm not available. (Chuckling) What? You were all fired up, wanting answers. Where do you have to be that's more important? I'm getting married. ## Wow. ## Tomorrow? Zeke's dying, J. He's got two days left. I shouldn't even be here, but I can't help but feel like Jace knows something ` something that could help save Zeke. I'm sorry, Mick. He wants a final celebration instead of being hooked up to the machines at the hospital. Look, I'm` I'm sorry. I` The last thing that I want to do is cause you pain. Grace asked if I wanted to invite you. I told her I didn't even want to tell you, - let alone have you stand there at` - Mick, Mick, Mick, Mick. It's okay. I'll be there. ## (Inhales deeply) What can I do? ## Get me a conviction. (Crickets chirping, dog barks in distance) - Michaela: Whatcha watching? - Aah! (Chuckles) You snuck up on me! Sorry. You wanted me to drop by. Early wedding present. I had to crawl through the attic to find this. Karen: Hey, you got it? Wow! Look at that, Daddy! Steve: Look at the camera, Michaela. Big smile! - There you go! - (Laughs) Isn't she beautiful? Look at you! (Both laugh) Oh! Isn't she great, Daddy? Okay, you ready? Here we go. (Gasps) Show Daddy how beautiful you are. You're my girl. (Laughs) ## (Button clicks) ## You should wear mom's dress. Or veil. At least, you know, a part of her will be with you in spirit. Yeah, I thought about that, um... but Dad got rid of all her stuff when she died. Guess the memories were too much. Kind of like how this might be too much for me. I guess I... I didn't fully process that saying yes meant letting him pull the plug on his own life. Why does it have to mean that? 'Cause that's what he wants. I mean, he` (Scoffs) If I call off the weeding and force him back into the hospital, he will never forgive me. (Sighs deeply) She'd know what to do. (Keys jangling) (Dog barking in distance) ## (Shivering) ## (Engines roaring) www.able.co.nz Able 2020 (Siren wailing) (Indistinct conversations) - (Car horns blaring) - Dr. Cardoso! I need to get into my lab. My research is in there. You need to reinstate me. I can't discuss this. I'm sorry. Please. I'm begging you. There are gravely ill patients who I need to treat who will die without my intervention. Do you want their blood on your hands? I want to help you, Saanvi. I do. So, believe me when I say the decision to fire you was made by people well above my pay grade. But you're the chair of the department. I can't revoke people's licences. Only the NIH can do that. Is there anyone in the government who has a reason to shut you down? ## (Sighs deeply) Karen: Michaela Beth... even people that have made mistakes deserve happiness. (Scoffs) You know my favourite verse ` 'All things work together for good.' Couldn't sleep? I've already got you beat on the cold feet. It's a big day. There's lots to think about. Yeah. Your going through with this means the world to me. Having our families together, celebrating us -- that's the memory I want to hold on to. You get that, right? I do, but... (inhales deeply) you can have all of that and still do a quick round of treatments. ## No more meds. No more needles. Just an epic wedding, a honeymoon, and a last night in your arms. ## Do you have any idea where your mom keeps the sheet pans? Not since my dad turned our entire garage into the Upside Down. I'm gonna look over here. So, uh, winter break's coming up, and I was wondering if you wanted to go skiing. Oh, I'm not really into skiing. Okay, well, I'm open to any other ideas. Yeah, maybe we can talk about this later. I'm sorry. It's just hard to focus with the wedding and finals. (Clattering) (Grunts) Found them. (Doorbell rings) The bride and groom! Hi, you guys. Come on in. Thank you. - So... - (Door closes) Team Stone has been full steam ahead. I've got all the mushroom puffs, blinis and tartlets your little hearts could desire. And Ben has been in construction mode... - Oh. - ...since the crack of dawn. Yeah, no, of course he has. I mean, has the protractor come out? Hey, bud. How's it going? Good. (Sighs) I'm getting a Calling. Cal is lying his butt off. (Chuckles) Talk to me. I thought weddings were supposed to be fun, but what's fun about... Me dying? Yeah. But hey... we still have some time together. And we haven't even done the best part of planning a wedding ` - the bachelor party. - Seriously? You're my best man. You gotta throw me a killer party. You in? ## (Clattering) - Looks pretty good, huh? - Uh...yeah. - (Whispering) Your dad's coming to the rescue. Don't worry. - Okay. Yeah, it's gonna look great once we... ## Ben? Ben?! Hey, you okay? (Gasps) No. Flight 828 ` it... It just blew up all over again. * What's the plane blowing up supposed to mean? It's gotta be a sign. The question is, of what? I mean, you said it yourself. Maybe the Callings are trying to teach us something. Why else would you get a vision of the plane right before Zeke's Death Date? (Sighs) But Zeke wasn't on the plane, Mick. I-I think you're grasping. Ben, for months, you've been saying that our only hope of surviving the Death Date is by following these Callings. I know, okay? I know it's a long shot, but if there's any way of saving Zeke, you got to figure out what it means. Alright. (Sighs) I'll drive out to the airport. I'll see if there's maybe something at the explosion site. Just please be back in time for the wedding. Promise. I'll be there. Thank you. - (Sighing) Ohh! - After the sugar rush comes the sugar crash. - I'm gonna need a nap. - We're not done yet. - Monopoly? Haven't played this in ages. - (Sighs) I don't know if we have time, though, bud. We should probably get downstairs and help set up. How many more chances are you gonna have to play? Alright. Let's go. (Sighs) Do you think there might be a way for you to beat the Death Date? I don't know. What do you think? Well, before the plane disappeared, no one thought I could beat cancer, but here I am. True. Somehow I think this is a little bit different. ## You threw me the best bachelor party I could ask for. Too bad I'm gonna have to crush you at Monopoly. (Chuckling) You think you're gonna beat me? Please! I call the race car. Reporter: This is certainly an unusual case. In fact, the Chief of Police told us he'd never seen anything like it... - Hey. - ...in all his years on the force. - Hey. - How can I` - In the wake of NYPD arresting three suspected drug dealers in possession of over $1 million in methamphetamine, the story took a shocking turn when their cook house exploded. - According to local eyewitnesses, the debris shattered... - That's not possible. (Buzzer blares, guard speaks indistinctly) - Uh, definitely suspicious. - Michaela: How could it blow up? HAZMAT came in and cleaned up all the chemicals. The apartment was empty. Unless... - 'Let him go.' - You think the Calling has something to do with this? I never understood why it didn't want me to arrest the dealers, but what if the Callings wanted them in that lab? What if they were supposed to die? Mick, that'd be some serious retribution. More likely, one of these guys, or someone above them in the food chain, had their hand in the explosion. You know, a cover-up. - I'll take one more stab at them. - Thanks. (Cellphone beeps) - (Guard speaking indistinctly) - Jared? Hey, what are you doing? I promised Mick. Hey! - How'd you do it? - Do what? Empty cook houses don't blow up for no reason. Arson on a crowded block like yours? That's attempted murder. I'm guessing your buddies are not gonna think twice about cutting a deal. They're more afraid of me than they are dying in the joint. You should be, too. Once we're out, I'll be coming for you, right after I pay a visit to your little blonde girlfriend. Drea: Hey! Hey! Knock it off! Always got the ladies helping you out, huh, detective? - (Grunts) - Forget him. (Cuffs jangle) ## ## (Door squeaks) (Engine whirring) ## Ward. Ward Attwood? Hey, wait up. My name is Ben Stone. I was on the flight with you. I've been trying to find you since we returned. I was hoping we could talk. I know exactly what you want to talk about. And... (voice breaking) I'm sorry. It's all my fault. Wait. What's your fault? I'm the one who okayed the flight to take off from Jamaica. I rushed my inspection. I missed something. Foreign object debris in the compressor blades, contaminants in the fuel. All I was thinking about was hopping the jump seat to get home. But we landed. We're safe. So why the hell am I being haunted by visions of the flight exploding? You saw it, too. What do you mean? You saw it? (Sighs) It happens to a lot of passengers. Ward, I've been where you are. I know what you're going through. You can't. I haven't worked, slept. And every time I hear about a passenger in trouble, dying... I know it's my fault. The visions never end. That's why I'm here. I've got to figure out what went wrong. That vision, it brought me here today, to you. I think we're supposed to figure it out together. ## Priscilla: I know it's not your mom's, but, um... I figured 'something borrowed'. Priscilla, this is beautiful. - Um... thank you so much. - You're welcome. There you are. Come. I want a photo with the bride and groom. Hey. Oh, Mom, there'll be plenty of time to take photos at the wedding. Zeke, I love you, and I'm so happy for you and Michaela. Truly. But with your father coming, I... - I can't attend the wedding. - What? What he did to you... and to me after Chloe died, I... I will not be in the same room with him. Mom, you have to come. This is your one chance to see me get married. (Laughing) No, there'll be so many other milestones for us to celebrate together. ## Actually, there won't be. I'm dying, Mom. ## (Scoffs) Not with your, uh, treatments... The doctors don't have a cure for what I have. ## Oh, God. (Inhales shakily) No, this can't be true. There` There must be something that you can do. It was hard for me to process at first, too, but I've come to accept it. I mean, it` This last year's been a blessing. I got to make peace with my past, make amends with you and Dad, found Michaela. I've never had one day in my adult life where I've just celebrated the moment. To go out knowing I married the great love of my life and to have you there supporting me... I couldn't ask for anything more. ## (Banging on door) Remember, if things go south and you ever need to contact me, - you just call the travel agency` - I know the drill. ## (Cellphone dials, line rings) Automated voice: Please leave a message at the tone. - (Beeps) - I'm sorry to call on such short notice, but I need a non-stop ticket to Havana. It is an emergency. It's life or death. (Breathing heavily) And you're my only hope. (Cellphone beeps) * - I need your help. - Yeah, of course. Uh, just let me find something first. I'm helping another passenger with a Calling. Today? What's the Calling? - The plane exploding. - (Sighs) Wow. Yeah, I can't make heads or tails of these reports, but maybe Ward can. How's your research? Anything to help Zeke? - Uh, not since I got fired. - What?! Yeah, I got kicked out of my lab, had my medical licence suspended. My boss tells me the government's involved. - The Major? - Yeah. Who else? I don't know what to do. I'm desperate. I can't get to my research, and without my licence, I can't get my hands on any medication that can help Zeke's hypothermia. I need to figure out why the Major's back. It's why I need to talk to Vance. Did you try the travel agency? It's empty. Called in a 'Havana 9-1-1'. Nothing. He just vanished. - You know how to reach him. - Saanvi, he made me promise` Ben, you are following the Callings to help Zeke! This is my way of helping him. Even if there is a slim chance that I figure this out in time, don't you think that he deserves it? Help me! His wife. You think she knows that he's alive? 100%. He told me as much. She's a principal downtown. Now, Vance may not return your call, but he'll never ignore hers. Okay. Thank you. - (Sighs) - (Footsteps fade) (Indistinct conversations) ## (Door buzzer blares) - There's nothing. - (Car horn honks in distance) My pre-flight inspection checklist compared with post-flight government inspection report. There is nothing different. (Voice breaking) I didn't do anything wrong. This is proof. The plane landed in New York in the exact same condition it left Jamaica. Yeah, but what about the lost time, the explosion? No one knows how this happened, not even the government. But it's not your fault, Ward. You don't have to feel guilty any more. I still don't get why, uh... you got the same vision of the plane exploding. I'm not sure. I guess I was hoping for a miracle. Maybe it was never about me. Maybe we were brought together so I could... help you. You did. Thank you. ## (Indistinct conversations) ## (Breathing heavily) ## Hey! Something's wrong! Damn it, sit up! He's having a seizure or something! Hey, we got a problem over here. Pull over. Hurry! (Brakes squeaking, hydraulics hiss) - Hurry! - Hey, hey, hey. Come on, man. Come on. Yeah, okay. - Jesus. - (Gun cocks) Hey, get off him! Hands up! Get 'em up! Don't you move, you scumbag. (Gun thuds) (Grunting) ## (Gasps) (Grunts) Everyone okay? Get the keys. ## Use your cuffs on the driver. Hook 'em up to the seat. Make sure it's tight. ## (Grunting) - What are you doing?! - You wanna be a cop killer, too? If it's the right cop. Let's go find her. - Get back what's ours. - (Gun cocks) ## * - (Siren wails) - (School bell rings) - Saanvi: Estelle, please. - My husband is dead. When all seemed lost, there was one person who stepped in and helped me, and that was your husband. Okay, lives are at stake, and we are running out of time. So, please, could you just tell me where I can find him? I need his help. This is my last resort. Someone is about to die. You want to know where you can find my husband? - At the cemetery. - Please, just call him. Get off this property before I call the police. ## (Door opens) (Sighing) Oh! Pretty dress. Yeah. It reminded me of Mom's. I got it at a thrift shop. - No! No! - Ohh, hey. It's` It's okay. No, Dad! It's not! It's not even close to okay! (Sighs) I don't think I can do this. I know the feeling. I couldn't breathe on my wedding day. My tux felt like an iron lung. (Chuckles) She loved seeing you dressed up. She would have given anything to see you walk down that aisle. If you had met her and she was already sick, would you have married her? Even if I knew I'd only be married to her for five minutes, I would have done it all again. - (Chuckles) In a heartbeat. - She loved you so much. And I loved her. But love doesn't mean a thing... without a little faith. ## If she were me, what would she do? I wish I knew, but... I'm here for you, no matter what you decide. We all are. ## I got it. I got it. Sorry, I'm just... ready for the ceremony to get started. Yeah. (Sighs) ## Zeke, I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me most. Me too. ## Look, when I'm gone, Mom's gonna need a friend. I'm gonna need you to step up and be there for her. She's not gonna want it, but she'll need it. ## (Inhales deeply, sighs) (Indistinct conversations) Olive: I can't believe this. It's like a dream. (Iron & Wine's 'Autumn Town Leaves' plays) # In this autumn town where the leaves can fall # # On either side of the garden wall # Okay, TJ, what's going on with you? # We laugh all night to keep the embers glowing # I'm leaving. A few weeks ago, I applied for a grant to study in Egypt. And it went through. # Waving down any wind # Egypt? Look, coming back on 828, not dying in the nightclub fire, I survived twice for a reason. Yeah. - To live your life. - But it's more than just that. I think I'm still here to find out what the Al-Zuras book means. And maybe I'll find a clue about the Death Date. - (Scoffs) - No, Olive, I'm sorry. - Please, I don't` - No, okay? I can't do this. Not now. (Door opens) # Some get rain and some get snow # # Some want love and some want gold # # I just want to see you in the morning # - Good of you to come, Jared. - Anything for Mick. Listen, f-for what it's worth... For what it's worth... it's all good. # Fish to us when they leave the sea # # Songbirds only end up where they're going # # In this autumn town where the lights can change # That was the dictionary definition of 'awkward'. Yeah. (Chuckles) - Maybe this'll help. - They got something stronger? - Yeah, of course they do. - (Chuckles) # River flowing # (Sighs) (Knock on door) Hey. Um... can I get you something? A glass of water or something to eat? - Call it off. (Sighs) - What? My stomach is in knots. I thought... I thought maybe Ben might have found something that would help save Zeke and this would all make sense, or` or I'd get a sign, a voice, a vision, something that told me that marrying him and letting him end his treatments was the right thing to do, but none of that's happened. So... I can't go through with this. - Mick. - (Footsteps approaching) Tell me you found something. Please, anything, Ben. I did. (Breathing heavily) ## (Sobs softly) ## Is this` Is this Mom's veil? It is. (Sighs, sniffles) I mean, that's a pretty big sign if there ever was one. How did you find it? The Calling. ## All good things, Mick. All good things. ## (Indistinct conversations) ## ## - I gotta go. - Drea: Seriously? Tell her I'm sorry. (Footsteps fade) ## (Crickets chirping) (Dog barks in distance) (Car alarm chirps) ## (Engine starts) (Gears engage) ## * ## ## We've gathered today to witness and affirm the choice Zeke and Michaela have made to stand together as partners in life. And they have written their own vows of commitment to one another. Michaela... we'll never have enough time to do everything that we want, to create all the memories we'd like, but having you believe in me, care for me, love me has been the greatest gift of my life. And I vow, however long I'm privileged to be your husband, to fill your world with all the love you deserve. ## ## Zeke, I want to be the best wife that I can be, which to me means I will stand beside you, loving you and supporting you in whatever choices you make in your life. I will never give up on you. And I will fight for your life ` our life together for as long as we both shall live. ## ## By the power vested in me by the state of New York... I now pronounce you husband and wife. - You may kiss the bride. - (Cheers and applause) ## (Cheers and applause continue) ## (Camera shutter clicks) (Leon Bridges' 'Beyond') ## - (Cheers and applause) - (Camera shutter clicks) ## # Don't wanna get ahead of myself # # Feeling things I never felt # # Her personality and everything # # Brings me to my knees, oh # # She shines me up like gold on my arm # # I love to see her face in daylight # I can't believe you saw Mom. - (Chuckling) Yeah. - How'd she look? Uh, like Mom. - Huh. - The veil, her showing up ` I think she was trying to tell me something. Well, I wouldn't put it past her. Maybe that I don't have to choose one path or another, that I can still honour Zeke's wishes and keep fighting to save his life. I think that's exactly what Mom would say. # Oh, me, oh, my, I can't explain # I was mad. At the Callings, at the world. But seeing her, I... I gotta do everything I can to save Zeke. (Sighs) Hey, um... what happened to Jared? (Cover of Savage Garden's 'Truly Madly Deeply' plays) Oh, he` he said he was sorry, but` No. No, it's okay. I can't blame him. Just put it out of your mind, okay? All of it. You deserve to be happy. Thank you. # I wanna stand with you on a mountain # May I have this dance? # I wanna bathe with you in the sea # # I wanna live like this forever # # Until the sky falls down over me # - You alright? - I'm better than alright. I'm with you. That's all that matters. So you're glad you said 'I do'? (Sighs) Yeah. Of course. I know you've had reservations. Didn't know if you still had second thoughts. Our situation is anything but normal. But I love you. Don't ever doubt that. # That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection # # Of the highest power # # In lonely hours # # The tears devour you # (Crickets chirping) Why don't you come with me? To Egypt. You're graduating in the spring. You can meet up with me right after. TJ, I'm` Olive, I love you. And I want to be with you. (Sighs) I wish I could. But I... I want my baby sister to know me. And I want to be able to spend as much time as I can with my mom and my dad and Cal before... You're my best friend. - (Sighs) - Okay, and us... breaking up, it` I'm not breaking up with you. I'm going on this trip so that I can try to solve the Death Date so that we can have a future together. ## Just don't give up on me. (Sighs) Never. ## (Indistinct conversations) I feel like I failed you, and I failed Zeke. - No. - No, you tried everything you could. # And you hold her hand and she doesn't let go # - I'm so happy. - I know. Or did I? I know Ben doesn't want me to continue, and Zeke's all but given up hope, but I-I can't. # 'Cause I'm more scared now than I've been before # Call me if you find anything. (Cellphone chimes) # The truth is what I've been waiting for # # And I'm keeping it in 'cause I'm all confused # - It's gonna be okay. - (Whimpers) # I'm just keeping it in 'cause a fool am I # I love you. My beautiful boy. (Both crying) # But as I kiss your lips, well, I know I know # I promise you I'm not gonna give up. I will follow the Callings to the end of the Earth to save Zeke... to save us. # So show your love # (Crickets chirping) (Sighs) (Voice breaking) I don't know how I can ever thank you, Cal. You saved my life, in more ways than one. You introduced me to your Aunt Mick, you know? You gave me the best bachelor party I've ever been to. (Sniffles) You be good, little man. ## (Crying) Don't go... please. I-I need you. I'll always be here for you, with you, okay? Huh? ## And I'll always be with you. ## (Engine starts) ## ## (Lights hum) (Footsteps approach) Geez! Vance! (Breathing heavily) You scared the crap out of me. I'm sorry it took so long for me to reach out. I had some... some other business out of the country to attend to. I came as soon as my wife sent me your SOS. It was bold of you to show up at her work, in public. I didn't have a choice. The Major. She had me fired, had my licence revoked, and I need to know why she's after me now. She's cutting loose ends. A couple days ago, the switchboard at the DOD lit up like a Christmas tree. The Major found a breakthrough with your research. She needs to make sure what she discovered stays in her hands and her hands only. She must have cracked it. Gotten rid of the DNA anomaly permanently. I think it's time for me to make you disappear. - Run away? - It's for your own safety. No, I don't think you understand. I am not hiding from her. I am coming after her. ## (Sighing) All cleaned up. Our house is officially a pumpkin again. Dishwasher's loaded. We're off the clock. You want to watch a movie? You pick. I'm gonna go fire these babies up. (Baby cooing) Mm. ## - (Breathing heavily) - The plane again? (Breathing heavily) I thought I'd figured it out. I guess I didn't. ## (Crickets chirping) (Dog barks in distance) (Sparkler crackling) (Barking continues) (Footsteps approaching) ## (Cellphone ringing) Who's calling us on our honeymoon? (Chuckles) Hopefully someone with some good news. - (Cellphone beeps) - Hello? Cal: Auntie Mick! Help! Help! - Shut that kid up! - (Duct tape ripping) - Listen, you sick` - No, you listen, bitch! You have two choices. You get us back our stash, or you bury your nephew! - Don't you dare touch him! - Jace: Don't tempt me. I warned you. Now you're gonna pay.
