Our Voice Our Vision traces the course of women’s liberation by following the changing lives and attitudes of the women who participated in the Albert Park Suffrage Day demonstration in 1971. The protest was considered to be the public beginning of women’s liberation in New Zealand. The participants interviewed are: Donna Awatere, Toni Church, Beth Patterson (now O’Leary), Ngahuia Volkerling (te Awekotuku), Connie Purdue and Hazel Armstrong. The documentary is narrated by Sue Kedgely who also participated in the demonstration. There are scenes from the first United Women’s Convention and the visit to New Zealand by feminist Germaine Greer. The documentary also examines the eventual splits in the women’s movement over lesbian, abortion and Maori issues.
