,
Episode 7
Soraiya Daud is a rising star in the Labour Party and the time has come for her to run for Youth Vice President. She is a Fijian/Indian feminist and deeply committed to secular politics but Soraiya is also Muslim. Soraiya invites the audience into her life on the eve of the Youth VP elections and at a time when deep questions are rising about her faith and her place in New Zealand politics. Can a religious person operate in secular politics? And perhaps more importantly for Soraiya, is New Zealand as liberal as she thinks it is and is the Labour party ready for an ethnic female Youth VP?
